英語書面寫作四條水平線

我們知道英語書面寫作有四條水平線：短線、長線、連接符和減號。許多學習英語的朋友不知道如何區分它們，使用它們更隨意。下面的小邊將和你一起看看這四條水平線的具體用法。歡迎閱讀。

1、短劃線：用于表示范圍的兩個數字之間

The mean age of the patients was 55 years (range 46–69 years).

如果使用betweeeneneneeneneeneen…and 或from…to不能用短線。

Temperature of the room was kept between 25 and 28℃.

短線使用最多的地方應該是在文獻列表中表示頁碼范圍。

2、長劃線：這是一個不常用的標點符號，說明以后需要進一步說明。

在大多數情況下，可以用冒號(長線時)或逗號(有些內容前后有長線時)代替。We have discovered a new function of FOXN1—recruiting melanocytes to deposit melanin into the epithelial cells. (可以用冒號代替)

長劃線的停頓時間比逗號長，也就是說，如果你大聲朗讀，長劃線的停頓時間比逗號長，所以背后的內容有點出乎意料，請注意。可以看出，一篇文章的長劃線不應該太多，少量的使用可以使文章更加生動和有趣。

　　3、連接符：這是幾條橫線中最常用的一種，通常用于以下幾種情況：

1)用于連接復合單詞的幾個部分，如X-ray， Editor-in-Chief，meta-analysis;或者連接單詞和前綴，如anti-inflammatory， non-coding。

這種用法很常見，使用起來卻沒有一定的規則。有些單詞不同的作者會選擇不同的格式，比如Editor in Chief， noncoding也是一種常見的寫法，而有些單詞主要是一種寫法，比如X-ray， meta-analysis， anti-inflammatory。在語言演變的過程中，有些單詞可能會從一種寫法轉變為另一種寫法，比如up-regulate，down-regulate，現在常用的寫法是upregulate (upregulation)與downlate (downregulation)。 對于這種不同寫作方法并存的單詞，我們在寫作時應該注意的是，一篇文章中只能使用一種寫作方法，前后一致是最重要的。

2)將兩到三個字連接起來作為形容詞來修飾后面的名詞，這種情況下連接符是必要的。

用連接符連接的單詞一般是兩到三個，不適合用連接符連接一串多個單詞。

3)在出版物中，當一個單詞斷開到兩行時，第一行的末尾有一個連接符，但我們在寫作過程中不需要這樣斷開單詞。

　　四、減號：表示減法或負數

在數學公式中，減法前后需要一個空格。

負數和后面的數字之間沒有空間。
