M: China’s other surfer girl is Monica Guo, a Guilin native who now lives and surfs in Hainan. Guo is a self-described sport girl. Growing up she always loved running, basketball, bicycle, rock climbing and then she found surfing. Here comes Monica Guo. Welcome!
W: Thank you.
M: How did you get into surfing?
W: I started surfing in 2008, but I was aware of the sport since I was in high school. My friend from Australia said, “ hey I can teach you how to surf!”. So we went to Langtao island in Hong Kong. The waves there are so good for learning, so smooth. The beach has no one, the water is clean, it’s really good. I stopped surfing, because I had to go back to work in Guilin. But then I had a chance to come back to Hainan, and I saw the waves. Oh my gosh, I was so excited. I had no idea China had these kinds of waves, it was so crazy. I decided I wanted to stay and live here, because surfing is just too much fun.

M: I’m just a better student than you are.
W: Let me see that. You didn’t write this.
M: No, I didn’t. I downloaded somebody’s paper from some website and slapped my name on it. The professor will never know. Wise up. Do you want me to find one for you?
W: No way! Not only is it cheating, if you get caught, you could not pass the class.
M: Don’t be such a nice person. Everybody does it. I know a guy who pays somebody in another state to write all of his papers for him and another guy who lifts his papers from old books. Don’t tell me you’ve never copied ideas from a source and represented them as your own.
W: I’d rather earn what I get and know that I didn’t cheat myself out of an education!

W: Are you a big fan of Doctor Who? This year marks the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who, which is a British science fiction television series.
The sci-fi television series tells the adventures of Time Lord-a time traveling alien known as the Doctor. He explores the universe in his “Tardis”, a time traveling spaceship. It appears as a blue British police box, which was a common sight in Britian in 1963 when the series was first broadcast. Along with his friends, the Doctor faces a variety of enemies while working to save civilization, help ordinary people and correct wrongs.
A children’s author called Eoin Colfer is writing a new series of Doctor Who short stories. His Doctor Who stories will feature the first ever Doctor, played on TV by Willian Hartnell from 1963 to1966. other children’s authors will also write stories in 2013 to celebrate Doctor Who’s 50th anniversary.
To mark the 50th anniversary of the sci-fi series, Royal Mail has released a special set of Doctor Who stamps. There are 1 stamps in total, showing the people who have played the role of the Doctor. Matt Smith plays the 11th Doctor in the new series of Doctor Who from 2010. At the age of 26, he is the youngest actor to play the Doctor. Doctor Who’s 50 Anniversary Special, which began filming in April, will be broadcast in 3-D around the show’s birthday in November. The programs’ special 50th anniversary story is still a secret. Steven Moffat, the show’s lead writer, says the script is “on my computer under lock and key.” And the current Doctor Who star Matt Smith says fans “will not be disappointed” by the 3-D show. “It’s going to be the biggest, and best, and most inventive and most exciting year for the show.” He added.
