按照傳統語法，上述句型只用于花時間，不用于花錢，但這在現代英語中已經發生了變化。例如：

It took him a lot of money to buy her a fur coat. / It took a lot of money for him to buy her a fur coat. 他花了很多錢給她買了一件皮大衣。

12. It takes sth (sb) to do sth 做某事要花精力（需要人等）。例如：

It takes two to make a quarrel. 一巴掌拍不響。

It took three men to lift the box. 舉起這個箱子需要三個人。

It would take a strong man to do the work. 強壯的人才能做到這一點。
